Anyone know what the best way to give a 2007 mazda 3 MPS more grunt? I would like to know where I can get a new chip for it.

Personally I would not recommend doing anything with the PCM until the 3/36 warranty is out. Mazdaspeed bolt on cat-back exhaust and intake are probably your best two items that will work with your factory warranty.
lets see. i know a few people with speed3's. the most common performance mods seem to be a full turbo back exhaust, an intake, and a front mount intercooler. if u still want more power, there are turbo charger upgrades to bring it to around 400hp.. i tihnk,
Adam's got it right. The two biggest things you can do for your speed3 involve your Mazda dealer so you retain factory warranty: 1) Install a Mazdaspeed enhanced cold air intake and 2) Install a Mazdaspeed low backflow exhaust system. These two items will put you just oer 300 horsepower, which will make your car a WRX Sti killer. The whole thing will set you back about $5000 USD, which is what, like 90 British Pounds these days? ;-)
for more power with the least mods,,, first would be an intake which gives a very noticable differance and a downpipe and thats pretty good amount of difference from stock
As a MAZDA tech, i would not suggest doing anything to that car, BECAUSE the motor mountes are tooo week for the 270 some odd hp that 2.3 turbo motor puts out, MAZDA was having problems with the mounts breaking with hard launches off the line. drive your car, have fun, and let it be stock, (ok intalke and exahust, ya have fun put on a CAI, and a loud exhaust) but don't put a chip in that car. (unless you would like to keep buying motor mounts)
then buy aftermarket motor mounts. duh. it seems the one on the lower rear part of the enigne is the most common one that breaks. and alot of the speed3 guys relpace that one first. i tihnk they're a couple hundred bucks.
exhaust from turbo back, front mount intercooler, then wind the boost into her 14psi should be ok.
Hello. I own a 2006 Mazda 3 MPS (Australian) and the speedo is not accurate. My Mazda service centre did not want to adjust it. Said it was within Australian limits. To rectify the problem, I have bought an electronic kit called a "Speedo corrector". Do you have any idea where the speedo gets it pulse from?? I need to cut into this wire so that I can correct the speed. Any help will be a bonus. I have a technical diagram but am still unable to locate exactly where the wire is. Many thanks, Greg.
Good luck bolting up a bigger turbo with no fuel ugrades. Stick with an intake and exhaust. Give the after market a year or so to make upgrades to the direct injection. It's not as simple as changing the pump and injectors anymore. It's to new, just give it time. Direct injection is the wave of the future, something like what VTEC was.
Cobb makes an Access Port that allows you to add new maps to the ECU. They offer several different pre-sorted maps depending on your hardware. Just adding a CAI or SRI and using the associated Cobb AP map will net a nice 25-40 whp. Like all turbocharged cars the MPS3/MS3 will benefit from a less restrictve exhaust. Mazdaspeed makes a cat-back that will not void your warranty or cause inspection/smog problems. However, the cat-back is not the biggest problem. The most gains will be seen in starting from the downpipe/midpipe. The MS3 has a very poorly designed downpipe and a complete turbo-back exhaust will yield amazing increases in power, possibly at the expense of your smog/inspection/warranty. If you want to keep your car kosher with the dealership/company then stick to a now discontinued Mazdaspeed CAI and cat-back. That combo will be a nice 30 or so whp gain. If you want to stay cool with the smog patrol but care less about the dealership and Mazda then get the Cobb SRI/AP/cat-back. There are several companies that make cat-backs besides Mazdaspeed and the Borla looks very nice. If you are looking for the most power without touching the turbo, engine or intercooler then get the Cobb SRI, AP and a complete turbo-back exhaust, with or without a cat depinding on your local laws and willingness to put up with the stink of a rich running car, because without a cat the exhaust will stink.
Aside from the Chip, I did the following, and get great performance.3" ETS TMIC, CPE CAI, 5 ply intercooler hoses,TurboSmart BOV, Hotchkis Sway Bars, Tenzo Type M version 2 machined/black wheels with 235-40-18 Eagle F1 tires and TWM shifter bushings. They all help it perform better. Reply to Your Post Delete Post
It al depends on how far you would like to go with your mods and also depending on budged desired to spend. If you want to go balls out with mods and make your car a "4 cylinder muscle car", there are tons of upgrdes already in the market such as turbo upgrades, forge pistons and cams. But if you are on the conservative side like me and want to still keep the warranty on the car i suggest you a few simple but juice mods: - Get a Short Ram Intake, CP-E makes quality ones... and as far as warranty depending on the dealership, they dont bother. (~$250 - 300) - Then Get a Top Mount Intercooler... this is a very noticeable gain, you can feel it right away, its like an instant 30 - 40 hp gain... it is very simple to install nd uninsitall so is an easy bolt on to change for dealership visits. ETS sells them for about $580 - Test Pipe is also a recomended upgrade, just like the TMIC is a very easy bolt on... 10 minute install... this not only gives u 10 - 15 hp but also gives you a nice meaner growl form the exhaust... good thing is not as loud as cat-back exhaust systems... street unit sells them for$200 -Also if you want to go on the safe mode i recommend you to get an after market motor mount, this will provide you with a stiffer support for your engine, and not only will improve the smoothness of your shifting specially from 1st to 2nd gear; but will also gives you more traction and power delivered to the wheels thanx tho the improved stiffness. There are many brands in the market that sell... i got the Street Unit one for $120 - A turbo timer and a Blow Off Valve will improve the life of your turbo HKS sells them for ~$100 and $280 respectively So far this is what i could basically recommend... as well as is almost all what i have installed in my car... and so far I love the way its going... I recommend you to go to www.streetunit.com they have pretty sick upgrades for the MS3 nd many other power plants... check it out hope this was helpful to you.
Have You Dyno-it yet? if you have... what are you running? i pretty much have the same stuff you do so numbers should be similar... i havnt dyno-it yet because am waiting for my 3.5" TMIC to be installed soon... (waiting to arrive so I could do it) so thats why am curious...
try the piasini upgrade , it gave my mps 80Nm in torque and 27 ps !!!!
Yeah i would say first mods should be a new intake and a turbo-back exhaust... you could do catback but it wont increase your horsepower any. I would also make one of your first mods a new read engine mount. The MS3 has a horrible on and you will lose all of your wheel hop and see much better shifting with a new engine mount. Also, a dual port recirc/VTA valve is nice as the stock plastic one tends to bleed boost. My MS3 has the MS CAI, Turboback, Dual port BoV, Engine mount and the Cobb Accessport.
Look, go to www.streetunit.com they specialize in Mazdaspeed upgrades and can teach you what you need.
