When should I change my timing belt?

Asked by Ppeter78 Oct 10, 2019 at 06:29 PM about the 2007 Acura TL Type-S FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Acura TL s type I am the original owner I have
17,145 miles on my car I was told by the dealer that I
should replace my timing belt because my car is old there's
nothing wrong with my car it's running perfectly fine I only
brought it in to get the aux in jack fixed. My car has
Bluetooth but doesn't have Bluetooth streaming media. I
asked if I needed to do anything to my car and they said I
need to have the brake fluid changed and the timing belt
replaced based off of age alone. I can't find any
documentation that says my timing belt needs to be
replaced before 60000 miles. The owner's manual does not
reference time it only says miles I don't want to spend $700
for no reason can anyone shed some light on this??

Have an honest mechanic inspect the belt for cracks and missing teeth. If it is good you could keep driving it but do budget for a replacement when you can afford it.
