If gas gets into the oil pan and the car is driven for about fifty miles, will this damage the rings and bearing on the bottom end?

Test drove a car that i was looking to purchase. Oil dipstick read overfilled, pointed this out to the dealer. He took car to his mechanic. Owner said his mechanic told him a hole in an EGR line caused the motor to run rich and the fuel got past the rings.
Yes. You probably have a bad fuel injector. The gas will wash the oil off the rings and damage the engine. Don't drive it until it is fixed.
