was charged $35.00 a quart for the transmission fluid. were we ripped?

nope, that is about right. I have to assume that it is a CVT transmission. If so, its even more expensive here in Canada

thanks so much. I figured there had to be something wrong when I was told this price from the person that performed the service.
yes, you were ripped.. unless it was some expensive performance tranny fluid.. tranny is usually 7$ a quart.. and a gallon for like 17
CVT transmission fluid is a special synthetic fluid, which you can't buy from your local NAPA store, or whatever jobber store you have around. It is dealer exclusive for another year
for my dodge I was told to replace the fluid in my car it will be about $325.00...I walked away.. Now I am taking a second thought.

U do did special fluid in some trannyz but u can use reg trans fluid but u need to add lube guard,platnuim friction modifier
I agree with eliot, shops and dealerships often have a service charge, cvt fluid typically ranges from $10-$20, as for lubeguard I wouldn't risk using it in a cvt
