Radio code doesn't work

Asked by MLS67 May 03, 2018 at 07:47 PM about the 2004 Acura TSX Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 2004 Acura TSX.  My battery died, and I just replaced it.  I had the
original radio code; but, when I entered it, it didn't work.  I got on Acura's
website and looked up the code which is correct.
Any ideas as to what is going on?

Try using an online radio decoding service. They'll fix your problem without you having to go to the dealership. Here is a link to a good one: radiocodevault.com/acura

I found the solution!! So I have an 06 Acura TSX. My battery died and once jumped, the radio would no longer work. I put the code in and the navigation would cut on but not the radio. I just got my car checked and found out I needed my alternator changed. Once I got that replaced, the radio still wouldn’t work. I came on this forum and none of the suggestions worked so, I went through my manual In the dash and figured out the solution!! 1. Type in your 4 digit passcode when the screen pops up. 2. Once your navi appears, you should see the word “CODE” on your screen above your stereo. 3. Where ever you located your 4 digit navi code, there should be a second number that is 5-6 digits long underneath it. (I found my code on a buisness card in my owners manner in the dash. I also found the code printed on a piece of tape on the side of my opened dash drawer.) 4. Once you locate this second code, use your “tune” turn dial and turn it right. Once you do so, you should see the number “1” appear on the screen where you see the word “CODE”. Now turn your tune dail to each number on your 5-6 digit code. For instance): let’s say your code is “12345” Turn your dial to “1” press the dial in Then go to number “2” press the dial in Complete this process until you finish entering the code in. Once you press the dial in on the last number, it should automatically open your radio!! I learned that this car has a security system set in place that requires 2 separate passcodes to access the radio/navi. If your car is disconnected from power in anyway (battery dies, unplugs, resets, etc) your radio will lock up until you complete this process! I tried to figure this out for weeks of not listening to music and once I FINALLY got in, I wanted to share my personal solution! I hope this helps someone

Thank you for sharing, My radio wouldn’t turn on after my battery failed, no matter what I did for almost 6 months until I came across your solution on Christmas eve (it was a nice Christmas present for me!!!) Thanks again Juan.

So I just had the most horrendous couple of weeks with my 2006 Acura TL. I had a break job on all four with rotors replaced. Then a new battery, then an alternator, and then another new battery, the bad alternator damaged the new battery. But the problems continued. About a month later, my VSA alert comes on, and the car was not running good, it felt like it had list power. The rear break had seized, causing the light to come on , VSA, and the feeling of loss of power. Just before that I had an evap component changed. Si I thought this loss of power was caused by the evap system. Turns out I needed new pistons. What an ordeal!

Had this same issue with my Honda, I know it is not exactly the same as Acura's but anyways, the website I used also has support for Acura's as well. They specialize in helping people out with their radio issues, and I believe they could help anyone else looking too. I'll leave the link in case anyone needs it: radiocodevault.com/acura

For my 2013 Acura TSX: I located my code. Started the car > turned on the Radio > touching no other button or dial, I just immediately entered my code using the station preset number buttons (1-6). Done.

Radio code for my 2013 Acura TSX didn't work even though it was correct. I found solution on one of Acura's websites (please see picture below). I was sceptical because screen was dark and I coulnd't turn it on. Magically, it helped. I unlocked screen by receting code and then unlocked radio.
