Overheating 97 lumina 3.1

Asked by Drakeboy1 Mar 07, 2017 at 07:57 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet Lumina Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed bad intake gaskets and changed the
radiator and now the car will not stop overheating.
I'm down to two things. A head issue or I have an
air bubble. Any tips to help?

Yes you need to purge the cooling system from air and make sure the fans are working. Here is a video on how to purge a cooling system.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpXgAJ1gjU

do you have heat in the cab ? How about the coolant thermostat ? It may be stuck , pull the housing off and see if the coolant looks O.K , lift the oil fill cap and let us know if there's any muck .
