My security light on my 97 Chevrolet lumina won't let me start it how can I disabled the alarm

disabling the alarm typically will not allow the vehicle to start. If your security light is on and/or flashing of all the time and it wont start then you have a problem in the anti theft system that must be repaired first. It could also be that the key lost its program I've seen this happen a lot of times in a Ford Explorer when the battery goes dead. I would recommend taking it to a shop they have them diagnose the antitheft problem seeing as to program the system you need a factory scan tool.
