2007 Hyundai Santa fe won't start

Asked by Stacycoll92 Jun 04, 2018 at 10:17 PM about the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7L GLS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About a week ago my check engine light came on and a
day after that it stalled out like it's not getting gas to the
engine. I had to change my fuel pump about 3-4 months
ago, but apparently now the fuel pump filter needs
replaced. Does anyone know if that would cause it or if the
filter is in with the fuel pump? Because I've heard there are
two fuel pumps. One with a filter and one without. It's as if
know one knows the answer to this question.

As far as I know(& I have changed a few), there is only 1 fuel pump, and the filter attaches to it. The filter shod have been replaced at the same time as the pump. A clogged filter can certainly cause a no run condition, as could leaving a filter off a pump and possibly floating debris in the tank could clog the pump as well. When you turn the key to ON before starting the car, do you hear a click and a slight hum from the car? Could be a pump fuse or a pump relay gone bad, or could also be that the wire connector was not snapped properly closed when the pump was changed and has come apart.
