Is my coolant temperature too high for my Santa Fe?

Asked by mountaintop57 Jul 24, 2014 at 12:47 PM about the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3L Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently plugged in the AAA Smart Trek diagnostic tool. I have received messages that my coolant temperature has reached 228 and even 240 degrees while driving. The dash indicator is not indicating a problem --registering in the middle range. Should I worry, or is this normal for this car? Santa Fe 2007 Limited 3.3 V6

It is normal to run half on your temperture guage, any more there could be other problem,s with your cooling system.

T_S_T Thanks. So do you think I should only use the gauge only? What about the 240 degrees report on the diagnostic scanner?

I think you are ok,to use your guage, some diagnostic scanner,s read a little high on temp anyway,as long as guage is half you are good.
