Oxygen Sensor malfunction

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was in a front end accident with my 2007 Sonata Limited. Was not my fault so other persons insurance covered repairs. When I went to pick it up, no lights on then within 15 minutes my check engine light went on. I immediately called body shop and they said it was the Oxygen Sensor and had nothing to do with the collision. I find that odd that light went on right after I started to drive it. Was told to take to my mechanic for repair.  Question: Could the collision have caused the Oxygen Sensor to malfunction?

The body shop said they scanned it saying Oxygen Sensor. I'm awaiting a call from the insurance appraiser. Thanks
