We bought a used car from Premier Hyundai in Tracy CA. Paid cash, have sales contract, now the dealership says it cannot sell us the car. What are our options?

Calculate your loss, record it then get it verified (another dealer would be glad to help you there) go to small claims court. You can collect up to $5000 if all you say is true ... however, read the contract carefully ... Small claims will cost about $25 to file or a Lawyer will charge around $2500-$500 to review it. Go on CraigsList (Auto-Sales) and post your experience ( before you do ... make certain everything you said is true). It will probably get flagged but just open another account and keep posting it ...
We can't seem to get a clear answer from anyone, managers included. The car was from Canada originally but has Calif plates. They claim they can't get title, although they sold the car. My guess is they sold the car too cheap thinking that the odometer read 98,000 miles but it was kilometers.Thanks for your response
All 50 states require a title to get tags ... so if the car has tags ... it must have a title (unless the tags were stolen .. if that's the case then the registration is also bogus (not likely). Any car that is imported from another country (Canada is another country) must meet ... safety, equipment and emission requirements for this country before a Tag/Tittle is issued. Perhaps it's best you don't get this car because "Be careful what you wish for ---you just might get it.
Small claims court is the only way to go ... if this dealer cashed a bank check (maybe you financed the car) then the bank was also negligent in not researching the car .... Banks always do a title check before they fork out a few thousand bucks. You damages are ~costs of obtaining the loan~expenses of running from the bank to the dealers~ Missed work~ cost of selling a car to buy this car ( perhaps you sold your car under value to buy this one) And ... this is a lone-shot ... buying the same make/model price difference. You may have the dealer in a tough spot but file small clams first because if you file a complaint against the dealer with the state first than if the dealer wiggles out of the state complaint ... it may effect your small claims (Ca. allows up to $5000 claim in small claims court and it only costs $25 to file)
