2006 Toyota Matrix code po 741

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I took my car to be fixed at a local transmission shop.  The transmission had
been showing this code and then had totally ceased I couldn't get into any gears.
So they got the car to drive again but as soon as I picked the car up the same
code came up.  I have had it there 3 times and for a month and a half and the code
is on again.  This last time they messed with the cars computer too.  I don't even
know what to do.  Is this a common problem? If they changed this torque
converter and the sensor what could cause the code to keep coming on?  Please
help!

HUMMMM.......Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off I WOULD SERVICE THE TRANS AND CONVERTER..IF NO DRAIN ON CONVERTER,,,A TRICK IS TO DRILL A HOLE TO DRAIN IT AND SEAL IT WITH AN ALUM.POP RIVET,,,,

So was there any justification at all for them to mess with the cars computer? They disconnected the cars auto start that is somewhere behind the glove box, and thought that was going to fix it yikes! I'm scared to even take it back for a fourth time!

The PCM controls the engine and the transaxle (front wheel drive transmission) and a bad connection at the PCM (powertrain control module) are two things that can cause trouble. If there is a bad connection or bad terminal pin fit or broken wire then the transmission could shift funny. or not shift at all. Aftermarket components or faulty installation can also cause problems. A remote start made by one company and sold at a car parts store such as O'reilly can also cause poor shift quality.
