Cars with bad engines are hard to sell as the potential buyer can't tell what else might be wrong with the car. Your options are to put a new or used engine in it or end up selling it for $500 if you can. What makes financial sense is up to you.

Not much. But it should be worth more than $5200 running , unless it's thrashed otherwise. But an engine will cost anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 installed, depending on crate long-block or used. So then you have to find somebody that is willing and able to go through the hassle of dealing with it, which is hard to find. Maybe $1500....? Guess

Yup, $1,500 with a bad engine would be a really good price. If someone offers the OP that much they should take it!

Another option is to part the truck out, an 06 Rav4 could make a good deal more than 1500 as parts, the downside is the time it takes to part it out. Barring that, check out your local scrap yards and that sell and install replacement engines from their wrecks, some even come with a limited warranty.
