Toyota Sienna speedometer doesn't work

The speedometer on my 2006 Toyota stopped working at 40,000 miles and the engine light came on at the same time. Anyone have the same problem and got any suggestions on what might be the problem.  
I tried disconnecting the battery and the light stay off for a while then came back on, and the speedometer still doesn't work.

I have just encountered the same problem at about 52,000. I see you posted this in March with no responses here. Did you resolve the problem?

toyota quality is downhill .while the engin and tranny are good everithing elese is garbadge
