2007 Envoy V8 5.3L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My GMC has smoke competing out of exhaust, rough idle,
bucking at take off, and a flashing engine light that read
misfire on cylinder 6. Repalced spark plug and coil pack
but still doing it. I have heard it could be one of two
things head gasket or lifter. I do not seem to be losing
any antifreeze. Could this be something simpler?

Check fuel--spark--compression on that cylinder. Was the smoke black? If so, check for over-fueling. Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and see if pressure holds for a bit with key off. The basics for rough idle, check for a leak of some kind, right now I'm thinking fuel.
Smoke is white, and more visible with acceleration.
Maybe coolant getting into combustion chamber because of bad gasket? Are you losing coolant?
I have an 07’ GMC Envoy Denali 5.3 as well and it’s literally having this exact problem. It started yesterday. I have to take it to my husband on his lunch break to fix but I’m trying to locate cylinder 6 before I even take it so he can get right to it. Can anyone tell me where it is? Is it on top or am I going to have to do some digging?
