Fuel pump
Best Answer
My 2001 Jimmy is doing the same thing as you
described. We've replaced the fuel pump and some
other things that could've possibly been causing
trouble. Now the truck is running but we have to
use starting fluid almost every time to get it going.
It has no power, seems like it is flooding out when
you try to give it gas it'll hesitate and wanna die out
but when you let off the gas it'll pick back up. Out
of nowhere it'll die when you have to stop and take
back off at lights or in the middle of traffic. I've
changed spark plugs thinking maybe the starting
fluid affected them but it didn't help any. Going up
little hills it'll drop speed and lose all power. It's
nearly impossible to get up the smallest hills. I
have to drop it to 2nd or 1st gear to get up a steep
hill. I fear I'm going to blow the motor or mess up
the transmission. I wouldn't drive it daily but I have
no other way to get to work or to do daily musts. I
don't know what else to do. It's such a headache.
