if you lock the doors manually on a 2007 ford escape, does the anti theft arm?

what causes my 2007 ford escape anti theft system "not" to arm when locking doors manually? Also, my alarms keeps going off "constantly" when set with fob. It is not consist doing this. It may go two hours, then start alarming, maybe taking 4-7 times with fob to stop alarm completely. I have cleaned both battery terminals.

Sounds like some corrosion somewhere in the wiring. It could be in the ignition, or a main terminal plug to the fuse box. Have a good mechanic go through the car to find it.
