Hello: I have a 1995 Buick Riviera Supercharged and would like to know if the power antenna is broken when it does not go all the way down and when pulled up, drops down freely as though it's not connected?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Do I have to replace the entire antenna and motor and of so, is it difficult to
replace?
Thank you.

There is a plastic cord that raises and lowers the chrome mast.....very common for that cord to break and the mast no long goes up and down. Depending on your skills and tools you can replace the cord, they are no longer available from GM dealers. I repair them with a steel cable that is plastic coated. Just repaired 9 for a parts dealer on the East Coast. Send me an email (Barney@texas.net)

Hi and thanks for responding. Actually my power antenna stays up about 5 or 6 inches and will not go down or up, stays at that height or location. The radio still works when I turn it on. If this cable you're referring is broke, would the antenna stay at the 5 or 6 inch height and would the radio still work? Thanks again.

The cable that breaks is plastic and has nothing to do with how the radio works, it just raises and lowers the chrome mast. Where the mast is stuck depends on where the cable broke.....in another car it might break and be stuck all the way up.

I don't sell the cable......I repair the antenna. $60 plus return shipping If the chrome mast is broken or kinked add $20
