Car wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced distributor and spark plug
wires. When I tried to start it wouldn't
fire. The fuel pump is operating, you
can hear it. When I sprayed with
starting fluid it rolled over and started
but it was smoking and would not stay
started. Does this distributor have an
adjustment? Where is the fuel filter
located? And what should I do

Sounds like you got the wires mixed up- when I do mine, i do them ONE AT A TIME just to keep the confusion down to a minimum- now, you said you replaced the whole distributor? that might be your problem too- you put it in wrong which would throw the timing off- good luck
