1996 Camaro RS won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The lights come on, but it will not crank nor make any kind of sound. Battery is brand new, and sometimes is able to start just fine but other times will not. Somehow leaving it to sit overnight will get it to start after it not being able to. No idea what's going on.

Time to do voltage drop testing on your main power and grounding cables. It could be a security issue or even the starter itself.
Is your security light or passkey fault light on? If so it's a security system problem. Your Camaro has the VATS security system. The most common problem with this system is the ignition lock cylinder. There's two tiny wires inside of the lock cylinder that must touch the visible chip on the ignition key. The wires tend to break. You can also try cleaning your ignition key with a Brillo pad. The chip might be dirty. Don't use any other kind of steel wool pad. Brillo won't damage the metal, other pads will! Hope that helps! Jim
ignition module inside steering column goes out after 20+years of use.
