2006 GMC SEIRRA TRUCK

Truck rolls backwards on hill while placed in drive and roles forward on hill while placed in reverse...is this normal ?

Yes it is normal. Give it a little gas and it will hold it at a stop. Give it a little more then you are moving in direction the gear select is in.
