Asked by Connor May 12, 2013 at 09:56 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Lumina LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It won't start or even turn. I bought a
new battery and when i checked my
old battery  auto zone told me my
alternator was fine. And when after I
mess around with my batteryfor 10
minuetes my car starts

special attention was not applied to the other end of the black cable that connects to the chassis/ground, and to the engine...the red terminal should be crispy-free of corrosion as it bolts to the solenoid-- use your garden hose, get it all clean and making excellent connections and we can stop blaming your battery...there is a little "lolipop" looper return from the alternator that needs to be clean too, is first in line for acid corrosion and corruption~
