1996 Chevrolet Lumina radiator fans won't kick on and the oil is 5 times as high as it was when I changed it.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the thermostat and tested all the fuses and
relays. The fans won't kick on and it appears like someone
has put an additional 5 quarts of oil in. I don't know what the
problem could be. If you have any suggestions as to why
this happened especially the oil thing I would appreciate it.
The car has just under 271,000 miles on it.

The oil does look watery now that you mention it. Would that cause the fans to stop working too?

Your coolant temperature sensor could be on the Fritz. Try unplugging the sensor, it has a yellow, green and black wire plugged right next to the thermostat housing. If the fans kick on, it's the cts. If after replacing and resetting the check engine light, nothing changes, you have an Ecuador problem, which is common for the 3.1 engines. Let me know what happens.
