Sorry, man, but I can't take the time to explain step by step how to do that- I would not want to work on a modern Caddy, anyway- just thinking about it makes me a little nauseous- just expect things to be in the way of the alternator, and be a major hassle, and leave it to an expert-

I agree with jamnblues as fas as getting an expert to do it but if you insist on trying to do it yourself buy a repair manual for year , make , and model of your vehicle it will show you step by step on how to install alternator.

lol- if you really want to start working on cars, start with something simpler than a 21st Century Cadillac- get a classic from the '60s or '70s and go to town! You can get an alternator off a 67 Vette in 10 minutes- or a Fiat or a Falcon-
