My low oil pressure light comes on when the engine not warm and then goes off after it warms up.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm curious if my oil pressure sensor is not working correctly or if it is and if it's possible I have a big problem.  It only comes on when the engine is cold and after it's warm it doesn't come on again until the next day or a long period of not running

More than likely oil pressure sensor, but be on the safe side,go have the oil pressure checked, this is something you don,t want to guess at,could cost you your engine,if it is not the sensor, and would only mean replacing your oil pump,to fix right now.

After ruling out everything else, it’s the oil pump. I had the same symptoms and it got worse till we took it apart. Big job
