Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Z28 died about half a mile from home but i got
it stoped and it started right up. The next day it did
it again but I had to let it sit for about 30 minutes
before it would start. Now i have two problems. It's
a 95 so it should have an O.B.D.1 but its an O.B.D.2
problem #1 I can't find an O.B.D.2 code reader
that's compatible with a vehicle that was made in
1995.
  Problem #2 I don't know why my Z28 keeps
dieing. PLEASE somebody help.

Or it could be a VATS security system problem. If the PCM loses the fuel enable signal, even when you're driving, the engine will stall. Unfortunately this will not cause the service engine soon light to come on and stay on. A trouble code will, however, be stored in the PCM to let you know this has happened. You need a code reader, as GA said, that will read both OBD I or OBD II systems. In 1995 a GM can be either. Luckily you know what you have! That's a big step in the right direction. If the fuel enable signal is being lost it's either going to be a bad connection at the PCM or a bad BCM. Hope that helps! Jim
