how important is the oil pressure switch on my 300 hemi

i put gas in my 300 on my way home i notice the check engine light came and
took it to the repair shop and they said it was my oil pressure switch. I didn't
put the gas on tight. how important is the switch

Its very important, you lose oil pressure in the engine, some how the oil spills out while u are driving there is no way to know you have oil pressure, I would fix it ASAP...
You mean you didn't put the gas cap on tight and now the check engine light is on? Not having the gas cap on tight will cause the check engine light to come on. Put it on tight ,if the light is still on pull the neg. battery cable off for about 3 min. to clear any codes. Otherwise possible oil sending unit, and yes it is important.
so did you change the oil pressure switch????
I had the same problem on my 300 and we put a new oil pressure sensor on her... look below the alternator I believe it's a 1 and 1/16 inch deep socket but don't quote me on that after I changed it call Leslie again
