I'm going to have to ask you to check the date of your battery...that can
be found on the knock-off labels on the top of the battery...what you
want is a battery that is newer than five years old....what will happen as
the Battery will stop accepting the charge about 10 percent per
year....the alternator cannot keep up and will fail if a new battery is NOT
installed....now that you've got a NEW battery we can focus on the
heart of the problem which is the ground connection from that big
hunkin 1/0 battery cable to the frame...now this connection is closer to
the wet and ground so you'll need a coarse wirebrush...disassemble
this ground terminal and wirebrush the place that it connected to, get
down to shiny metal with the wirebrush, clean the lug and knock any
corrosion that may be on the washer and nut and re-assemble
that...also the connection to the engine block being a 1/0 cable needs
to pull a significant amount of cold-cranking amps---with renewed
ground and solid power things will act normally again....(should)~~
