If you dont find leak ,go have it scanned to get code, may answer your question, could be dirty throttle body,or the TPS,or IAC.

Check the timming if it runs good at high speed the shuts off,you may just need to adavance the distributor a little.

If car runs good after you get it out on road, plugs wires are good, catalic converter stopped up would throw a o2 code, and have the fuel pressure checked to rule out the fuel pump, but i dont think that is your issue, check the timeing on the car.

Hear is something else you may want to look into that's if the vehicle is an automatic ( Toque Converter Clutch Soilnold ) this can cause the vehicle to shut off after slowing down or coming to a stop.

Mines doing the same I got a 1995 Impala SS and it backfired on me one time a month ago hasn't done it until yesterday even on highway it will start studdering and jerk and oil light flashes once then dissaapears then the tranny light comes on n stays on and car runs perfect but if I shut car off and start it back up the tranny light dissaapears and it backfires and wants to die I took it to the shop yesterday and they diagnosed it to be the catalac converters I cut the old ones off and started it without any on car and after couple mins of running it it backfired and died on me so idk I'm giving up

Replaced sparkplugs, serpatine belt, water pump, thermostat, radiator, all hoses under hood are brand new I don't get it the more I drive it the more the backfiring goes on it's to the point I can't even drive my car right now because it dies and backfires she was driving perfect two days ago now all a sudden she wants to die out one time I was on empty and I went and put gas and it stopped then a day later I filled the tank and it started doing that fuel pump is good I'm thinking maybe the fuel filter idk I give with this car too mines is the 1995 Chevy Impala SS DGGM only 150k on her and I'm second owner
