Overheating even after replacement of radiator, thermostat, and temp sensor.
So, my car has been overheating. I was told my radiator was clogged, so I
changed that. Also told it was a thermostat, changed that too. I replaced the
temperature sensor/sender (or thermal switch) below the thermostat also,
just to be safe.
When all of this was replaced, I bled the system of any potentially trapped air
(coolant had a steady stream out of the bleeding valve, so I think the water
pump is fine) and made sure the radiator fans came on at the right times. It
didn't overheat once it was warmed up, idle, and during acceleration, so all
seemed good. But, now its overheating again as I'm driving more and more.
(I made the repairs about 3-4 days ago)
The temperature begins to rise when the car is idle. When I'm accelerating it
seems to stabilize, but after driving it consistently throughout the day, it will
overheat even during acceleration. The coolant boils as well when it
overheats.
Any Insight? The radiator pressure cap looks pretty compromised, could that
allow air to constantly get into the coolant system?
