Does dextron III or mercon fluid work in my
vehicle

Dextron III is the OEM recommended. If you have it flushed or rebuilt, GM recommends Dextron VI.

But do not ever get talked into having a trany flushed. It will only cause grief within a year.

Uhhh, it is Dexron, not Dextron. I just learned that 2 weeks ago after 60 years. LOL. Put only what is recommend by the manufacturer in your transmission. It is likely Dexron III.

Heck, I still wrongfully call it Dextron.
