This is what they call a backfeed. Im guessing you lost a ground to that turn signal and the ground is finding a way to get back to the chassis, through the reverse light circuit. Find a turn signal wiring diagram (or just start looking at the signal wiring) and check the ground points for loose connections or broken wires.
