Cooling fan is not coming on (car gets hot and loses coolant), why?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Tested the temperature sensor, disconnected and the temp guage went down to cold.
Tested the fan relay (swapped w/ horn relay), seems fine.
Let the car idle for 15 minutes and the fan never came on.
Removed the thermostat (to test) will replace.

Is the only thing left the fan motor itself?

Hi robandkasey, I would first check to ensure all connections are firm and no broken/frayed wiring. If none, then replace fan motor. Hope this helps!

Thank you. After simply testing a new motor (it came on when temp. was reached) we cleaned the connections and the old fan motor started working again. Problem solved.

    The fan only works when the a/c is on. I tested the relay in the beginning and it was bad, the maxi-fuse was burnt out too, so I went ahead and replaced all that and replaced the coolant temp sensor...
