97 Saturn SC1 transmission fluid and filter

I want to change my transmission fluid, can I use dexron VI or has to be III
also I called Auto zone and they mentioned there are 2 filters, one is inside the
tranny itself and one is in engine compartment which I can see that one
do I need to change the one inside the tranny

You can use Dexron VI but I would prefer to buy Castrol 03520C TRANSMAX DEX/MERC ATF. Autozone is full of crap, there is only one filter!

There is an internal filter there on these transmissions, I recently jumped a curb and blew a eight-inch hole in my tranny, and I can see it. But it is only replaceable when the tranny is disassembled. That's why they put an external filter that you can change periodically.
