Hard starting 97 saturn sl dohc

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to find out why my 97 saturn sl dohc is so hard to start?
Sometimes it starts fine sometimes it's brutal.
Battery died on me replaced with new one, then soon after alternator went replaced
with new one.
To start it you actual have to floor it then big p looms of smoke exits the vehicle,
but I think being a fuel injected vehicle that is all wrong.....
Once it's started though the engine is strong, but if I were to shut it off again same
thing will happen hard to start.

Yes sir tried that, I'm beginning to think it is the cat. Bcos the car starts fine except once it's hot and you turn off the car and then turn it back on, I should say try and turn on it gives me hell. Once I finally get it start you see a big cloud of dark smoke.
