Is the engine high mileage? The 1.9L is an interference motor. If the timing chain went, you're going to have piston/valve contact. Too early to assume the timing chain broke though, you'll have to do some exploratory surgery. Pull the plugs and valve covers, crank it by hand and watch the cams/valve train, do a compression test, etc. If you still suspect timing chain you'll have to pull timing cover, oil pan, water pump.
