what are the torque specs for a valve cover

Typically the cam cover gasket (these have overhead cams, so it's not really a valve cover) gets 10-12 ft. lbs of torque. Spark plug tube seals may get higher torque on them. Do it gradually in a criss-cross pattern so as not to crush any part of the gasket, and if you detect any leaks after doing it, tighten a bit more.
