Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden I heard a
loud noise "starter" so I pulled over and turned the
car off, the noise was still going so I turned the car
back on and went home, after about 5 mins the
noise stopped. i went under the car took the start
off and the gear was all messed up. So I put in a
new starter and the car ran good for maybe 5 mins
and the same thing happened again, the starter
broke and the gears were all messed up!

Starter system circuit need to be checked including the ignition switch. Its possibly engaging the starter intermittently Or you have a Flex plate issue loose? but rather rare.

Also sometimes when installing a starter they put whats called shims in there and sometimes If they are missing it could throw off the alignment of the starter to the flywheel.
