Saturn Sl1 Cigarette outlet problem

Asked by Brandon May 21, 2018 at 03:31 PM about the 2000 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL1 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I currently changed the fuse for the outlet because it was completely blown.
After I changed the fuse anything that is plugged in the outlet shuts off 5 mins. I
use it for an adapter to listen to music and i have to keep unplugging and
plugging back in after every song. Is there anything i can do?!

You want to go behind the connection for the cigarette lighter make sure the wires are connected correctly they might be shorting out meaning they might be loose other than that the type of stereo your using if it's drawing more power you know that could be something too you could have to put a higher-rated fuse in the cigarette lighter fuse slot change it to a higher fuse but then again you don't want to have any major problems cuz you could have a fire burn out or a fire by putting a higher-rated fuse in over its original rating?

Try putting a 20 amp fuse on it and hard wire it from a port that is not being used to a switch and make it so you can control the issue and go with an illuminated switch to see when it's on
