IMO, putting a used engine that is 5 years older than your car is inadvisable even if it will bolt right in. It seems like every single used engine has "only 30,000 miles on it!" Have you seen the donor car?
See, what I am thinking, is a 1997 that has been crashed, even if rear-ended, that engine is 18 years old and been sitting for god knows how long. I know easy for me to say, not my money but a re-built crate engine is a better way. It will have at least some warranty, and the old one they might say they will give you a 30 day, 3000 mile warranty but if it blew they would weasel out of it
What the heck are you going on about, FordNut? Who cares if an engine has been sitting for a decade? Put oil in the cylinders, turn it over a few times, then fire the thing up. Go help some poor old boy with a ferd out. Onto the ACTUAL question. Yes, the engine will bolt in, but there are several key differences. The Intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, exhaust manifold, downpipe, and vacuum lines are all different. You'll have to change all those bits in order to run the 2nd gen DOHC. If you dont want to deal with that, find a '00 to '02 motor, those are all direct swaps
have you seen the price on reman dohc 1.9's???????????? totally outragous
