You'll need a multi-meter and a schematic for the vehicle. Haynes repair books have wiring diagrams in the rear with color coded wire descriptions. You'll have to trace the problem. First check where all the wires go into the door near the foot kick plate. Usually, from opening and closing the door a wire can get frayed there.
