Unless you have unlimited resources stick with the stock one.
I'm a Ford tech for a living. Changing little things can cause a lot of headaches such as, an engine designed for flex fuel can have a little different camshaft profile that isn't compensated for by the computer. (Bad experience trying to figure out a car sent from another shop) If you are able to buy or build a motor with more performance then you also have to redo the engine mounts, suspension, transmission, programming E.T.C.= unlimited resources. Hopping up a car especially an econobox is at the expense of more things than the wallet.
Guy is 100% correct, stick with what was in it stock. Too many computers now days to be mixing parts around that are not designed for the vehicle.
