Usually a bad lifter would cause a ticking sound. Misfires can be caused by a number of things. Do you have and Service engine lights?
Just like above, but check compression on all cylinders to be safe. Do you know if the vehicle was well maintained? Regular oil changes and filter changes? Was it driven in dust and dirt a lot? A quick fix may be an additive in the oil to help clogged lifters or even a high detergent oil. It is not difficult to change lifters, but time and work. The heads can stay on the engine, the valve train needs to be loosened to pull the lifters out the replace them. Find the reason for the miss before tearing into the engine. It may even be electrical. Plugs, wires or regulators. Cam sensor? Like the advice given above, find out what the codes tell you. It hopefully is a quick fix, and not all that expensive.
THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING YOUR TIME to give me some idea how to fix my Suburban, yes the tune up(plugs/wires/coils and etc......)was done on this car and yes the check engine light is on so I will do the scan check first and add a oil treatment(to clean the lifters) and we go from there, thanky all again so much..................
