2007 Suburban oil pressure gage stopped working and now I have a check engine light on. Simple fix?

Could be easy fix. Maybe sending unit. Does the gauge show nothing, O oil pressure, or low? Is it a gauge that actually shows psi of oil pressure?

Beat me with a stick. I should have thought of that. Thanks dandy. But in every picture the sending unit is in the back of the engine.

How difficult is it to replace the sender?

Just unhook wire (assuming it's attached) , unscrew old one, thread the new one in, not too tight, it looks like one of those crush washer seals attach wire ......click those pictures they will get bigger

Thank you DavidH25!!! I really appreciate your help. This is gonna be a pain because it is in the rear of the engine and hard to reach. Do I need a special wrench for the unit?

No, no special wrench, an open end or 12 point box end if it will fit over the top...looks like it will hopefully will break it lose, but I see what you mean about it being way in the back, those pictures make it look easier than it will be..with engines disassembled like they are, but there is always a way, maybe a crow's foot socket

Guys,, Per my dealer (I have the same scenario) this is a bad sensor which kills the oil pressure gauge?

Hi everyone I have a 2007 yukon denali I just change my sensor and my oil gauge still don't work

That's because under the sensor there is a screen that is probably plugged, more than likely the sensor is fine, but either way the screen has to be cleaned. Pull the Sensor, then remove the screen from the hole and clean it. no easy task, I'm starting mine in about an hour. If not, $475 at the dealer for them to do it.

I BOUGHT A 2007 SUBURBAN WITH 109K 9 MONTHS AGO AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT HAS COME LIKE 8 TIMES AND I TAKE OUT THE OIL MEASURER STICK AND CLEAN IT AND PUT IT BACK ON AND THE LIGHT GOES OFF. THEN THE GAUGE READS THE OIL.

Sometimes if the oil hasn't been changed faithfully and it's dirty, it'll plug up the small screen strainer where the sensor lives. this can cause high oil pressure reading on gauge due to some high pressure oil stuck in the sensor and not bleeding off due to the debris on the strainer blocking it. The same situation with plugged strainer can give the opposite reading on gauge and activate check engine light due to normal pressure not being able to communicate with sensor. Sometimes the sensor is fine, and just taking the screen strainer out with a pair of tweeezers, a hook or a magnet, then cleaning it with brake cleaner, then puting every thing back together will resolve the gauge and idiot light abnormality. Better yet, if you can get a new sender while it's all apart, it might gain you some additional time/miles before it happens again. Obviously synthetic oil helps out because it doesn't get cooked black like conventional oil (which is mainly swapped to blended or full synthetic now)
