What could be the problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When I come to a stop mainly a quick stop I feel
and hear a clunk sometimes hard and it feels like
something locking up. I'm almost 100% sure it's
from the rear somewhere. I've noticed that if I slow
down and slowly release break then reapply brakes
it's hardly noticeable and brakes work just fine.
Would greatly appreciate any advice you all have to
offer.

Does it feel like someone bumped you from the rear? If so, it's your slip yoke, needs to be lubed. Pretty common. If it's a loud clunk metal to metal, very well could be your swaybar end links.
Its loud enough to hear from inside with windows and yes also feels like someone bumped me from behind. I took it to les Schwab and they I need new rotors, pads, and calipers on all 4 wheels. But the funny thing is the brakes work like new and quite. They quoted me $1,370.
Oh boy, seems extremely excessive quote from Schwab. If indeed it feels like a car slightly bumped you from behind, grease up your slip yoke on the driveline, it's dry. My 06 is dry right now doing the same thing, haven't had time to grease it. My 03, same problem, greased, never returned again. Back to your brakes. You can buy a kit for pads, and rotors from Detroit Axle for around $120, or cheaper from Rockauto. Doubtful you need calipers too, a fluid flush yes, but not calipers. Many of us have 200k+ on our platform, never the need. BTW, grab a hold of front and back swaybar end links, make sure there's no play, should be tight. If any play, they will make a very loud clanking noise. If you need to replace those, get greasable ones with a zirk fitting. OEM are not serviceable.
