Trailblazer 2007 transmission

Asked by Rayyan Jan 17, 2020 at 11:59 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Chevy 07 blazer won’t shift from second gear to
higher unless you hit the gas to 120km/h and
decelerate that rpm hits 1 and shifts to 3rd. At
times it shifts without having to fly on 5000rpm. It
started after I changed the transmission oil a year
ago. The mechanic had drained the filter too. When
I inquired the other guys told me that you never
ever should drain off the transmission oil. Now,
what do I do?

Hi there! The most common problem for your symptoms is a bad throttle position sensor, NOT the transmission. For the TPS, it integrated into the throttle body, so would need to replace the whole throttle body. If you're in N. CA, I have an extra throttle body for the I6 engine to make double sure that's it. Changing the filter and replacing the lost fluid with Dex 6 is normal and fine to do. Just don't do a complete flush!! That's a sure way to say adios to your tranny quicker than normal.

Hello FJ, thanks for the reply. The mechanic had flushed it completely and it’s only after this it stopped shifting to 3rd but once it does shift to 3rd, it’s back to normal to the higher gears. Do you still think it’s the sensor?

Here's something a lot of us use for our tranny.... https://twincharlotte.com/30-common-4l60e-transmission-problems-repair-charlotte-nc/
