if you replace the battery on a 2007 pontiac torrent and still get a charge the battery charging system could it be the alternator

Yes, check it,by cranking car up,then remove one of the cable,s on the battery while it is running,if it cut,s off it will be a bad alternator.

IF YOU REMOVE BATTERY CABLE WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING YOU WILL DEFINATLY BE BUYING AN ALTERNATOR AND POSSIBLY AN ECM. SOUNDS LIKE BAD ALTERNATOR.

I must disagree with that last statement. My 08 torrent was doing the same thing. So I took the alternator off and had it checked. It was good. Try this before removing anything. Take a contenuity tester hook to your power wire on the alternator and check power at positive battery post if nothing check at starter. If power there take off positive cable there and clean real good

I had the same issue i put new alternator and battery in put the multimeter on the battery when vehicle is off it read 12.5 volts and when i started it it read 12.5 volts so i checked the starter everything looked fine i checked to see if this vehicle has a voltage regulator but i'm guessing its built into the alternator because i don't see it in any of the fuses i checked the plug on the back of the alternator with a test light by putting it into the connector and it did not light up and put it into the port where the connector goes into and it did not light up either any ideas will help thanks
