On the XM page it says you need an 8 digit code to activate your car radio. My Pontiac dealer told me that they need to hook the car up to an analyzer to get this code. (they have now started writing it in the owners manual with new purchases). I can bring it in and get the code for a fee, or wait until my next service and they'll do it for free.

So did you get the code and does your XM work now? I have a 2008 Torrent.

Most XM radios that I have come across, including the factory radio in my 2005 Montata SV6, you have to turn on the radio (or set it to XM), and put the radio on channel 0. This will display your radio ID that is needed to activate service. To the best of my knowledge, this is true for any XM receiver. If you have any questions, you can always contact SiriusXM Listener Care @ 1-866-635-2349 .
