Should I drive my 06 subaru if I suspect the head gasket is going?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My check engine light is on and cruise control light is blinking. The codes said
it was running lean and that cylinders 2 and 4 were missing. Gurus said that it
is possibly the head gasket. Can I drive it to get it looked at or should I have it
towed?

As long as it is not running hot,and you are not loosing a lot of fluid, should be able to drive it a short distance.
I would suggest that you find an independent mechanic and have them install the new multi layered head gaskets on your car. Read this description for information on the new stainless steel gaskets, below http://www.smart- service.com/blog/2010/03/which-head-gasket-is-best-for-a-subaru
The original poster asked this question before. I guess they did not like the first answer which was to fix it before driving it. Driving it to the shop should be OK. Just don't take it on any long trips.
Yes, a long trip could be a huge problem. Hey, depending upon the situation, you could overheat and blow up the motor in 20 minutes.

Actually, 8 minutes.... Yes, your question was asked and answered recently. Again, get the ignition system checked out first! Misfire codes are rarely related to HGs.
