All of a sudden I cannot put fuel in my '06 Outback.

Asked by damnsubaru May 15, 2014 at 12:38 AM about the 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5i Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We went on a 200 mile trip and fueled up on the way out of town. The next day I went to
put fuel in again and it just spilled out of the top, could not get any in the tank. Went
home, put a piece of fuel hose in and it girgled for a couple hours. got gas in the can and
was able to pour it in. Well, did the same procedure today, but had a much harder time
refueling and was only able to put two gallons in.

I got this answer off the subaru forumn from a Mike Y I just cut and pasted it It sounds like a venting issue you have to remove the hose that goes to the canister and fill the car with fuel. This is the largest hose on the canister and comes from the fuel tank. the vent valve is stuck closed
